Sarah Torres is a Registered Dietitian with over a decade of experience helping individuals and families through meaningful and personalized nutrition care. She earned her undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Foods from Texas State University -San Marcos and went on to complete her Dietetic Internship and Master’s degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts.
Throughout her career, Sarah has worked with clients across the life span in a variety of settings both at inpatient and outpatient levels of care. She has provided expert nutrition counseling in areas including child and adolescent nutrition as well as prevention and management of complex medical conditions. She has specialized training in the treatment of eating disorders and has supported children, adolescents and young adults with a wide variety of diagnoses and backgrounds.
In the past 2 years, she has played a key role in helping launch the UTHealth Houston Center for Eating Disorders PHP and IOP Program, where she has led efforts to expand access to evidence-based treatments across her community. She is involved in the ongoing development of a food service and nutrition approach grounded in Family-Based Treatment (FBT), which is an evolving effort to make nutrition rehabilitation more practical and family-centered. Her work is grounded in compassion and a deep respect for each person’s individual needs as well as empowering families to be full partners in recovery.
